Our natural nettle root CO2 select extract for perfumery originates from the species Urtica dioica in the field areas of Bulgaria. Natural agricultural practice excludes synthetic fertilisers and chemical agents on the cultivated land. The harvest covers only the underground organs of the herb. Pollen is released from the male flowers in a sudden discharge and reaches the female inflorescences by air, which is characteristic of the wind pollination of this species. The extraction relies on carbon dioxide in a supercritical state, whose density drops during decompression and returns the working medium to the gaseous phase. As a result, the final fraction remains free of residual solvents and free of water impurities. The colour of the extract falls within the dark greenish or brownish range. The green pigment in the upper layers of the rhizome provides the greenish part of the tone, while the deeper tissues with accumulated sterols add the brownish tinge.
