Our natural dandelion root CO2 select extract for cosmetics concentrates the non-polar constituents of the plant Taraxacum officinale in liquid form. The underground part provides the starting material, while the above-ground leaf rosette remains excluded from the extraction. The polysaccharides of the root consist mainly of inulin fructans with a chain of fructose units and a terminal glucose residue. The light brown to greenish hue originates in the root tissue itself, where the parenchyma retains deep inside traces of chlorophyll together with resinous and waxy substances. Natural cultivation excludes synthetic agrochemicals and mineral fertilisation, so the underground mass reaches the extraction with its own range of lipids and sterols preserved. The cultivation areas are located in lowland regions of Bulgaria. Supercritical carbon dioxide acts as the working agent in the extraction from the underground mass of the herb. The finished concentrate leaves the system free of residual solvents. The odour intensity remains between weak and medium. A fresh and ethereal character with a natural note defines the olfactory profile of this concentrate.
