Our natural rosemary CO2 select extract for cosmetics comes from the species Rosmarinus officinalis, whose plantings occupy fields in Bulgaria. Natural cultivation keeps the crop free of synthetic agents. Only the leaves are used for processing, as the needle-like tissue of this Mediterranean crop carries the main part of the glands with volatile substances. The glandular hairs on the leaf surface are divided into a peltate eight-celled type and a capitate type. The solvent medium during extraction is limited to supercritical carbon dioxide, which returns to gaseous form and leaves the concentrate immediately after the pressure drops. Residual solvents are absent from the concentrate, which is why the volatile fraction retains its original profile. The liquid form remains stable at room conditions. The odour strength falls within the intense and strong part of the range, because the select fraction collects the light terpenes. The spicy herbal character leads the olfactory picture. The colour ranges between dark greenish and brownish, without additional nuances outside this range.
