Description

We present organic lavender hydrolate for cosmetics, obtained from the species Lavandula angustifolia. In the international trade in plant distillates, the liquid bears the name Lavender organic hydrolate for cosmetics. The plantations in Bulgaria are cultivated organically on open fields. Organic cultivation carries over to the composition, which is why the liquid contains only an aqueous base and a volatile fraction, while preservatives and colorants are left aside. The species belongs to the Lamiaceae family, whose aerial part bears a dense glandular covering. The glandular hairs are most densely located on the calyx of each flower. The entire aerial stalk of the plant goes into distillation. The stalk gives a light initial tone, and the color of the distillate remains between colorless and slightly yellowish. Steam distillation gives clear contours to the aromatic profile, so that only the volatile constituents of the processed plant mass are retained in the aqueous base. The product remains a clear liquid with light fluidity. The intensity of the scent stays at a soft level throughout the entire aromatic progression of the product. The floral thread sets the main tone, while the herbal shade complements it closely and shapes the restrained finish. The characteristic aroma of this species is mainly due to linalool and linalyl acetate, while the other volatile substances remain in the background of the overall scent. In addition, in labiate plants the polar oxygen-containing compounds predominate in the aqueous phase. More precisely, the polar fraction explains the persistent presence of the floral tone in the profile. Lavender leaves a soft floral imprint on the final character of the liquid, while the herbal shade remains discernible right up to the finish of the aromatic progression.

Application
Lavender hydrolate is used in facial toners with a moisturizing and soothing effect, suitable for daily skin care. It is incorporated into masks with ingredients that nourish and smooth the skin texture, as well as into facial creams with a delicate texture and a soft scent. It is applied in body lotions with a toning effect and in sprays for refreshing the skin during the day, as well as in serums with a light moisturizing formula. It is used in micellar waters for cleansing and in products for sensitive skin where a balancing effect is sought. It is found in eye contour creams, lip balms and after-sun care products, as well as in shampoos and hair conditioners with a soft herbal note. It is also suitable for baby products with a gentle formula, for deodorants without aggressive ingredients and for hand and foot products in which the certified composition is a prerequisite for a gentle profile.

Storage

Store organic lavender hydrolate in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Maintain a temperature of +4°C to +10°C to limit the growth of microorganisms. After opening, use the contents within 6 months and limit the amount of air in the container. Use only aluminum or glass bottles for cosmetic products, preferably dark glass, which protect the cosmetic hydrolate from light. Close tightly after each use to prevent air and contaminants from entering. Observing these conditions preserves the freshness and quality of the product for a longer period.
