Description

We offer natural geranium essential oil for cosmetics, obtained from the plant with the botanical name Geranium macrorrhizum. The product is offered under the name Geranium natural essential oil for cosmetics. The liquid has a fluid consistency and a yellow-greenish colour that remains uniform throughout the volume when viewed against daylight. The yellow-greenish tone comes from the leaves used, which transfer part of their green pigments into the volatile fraction already during extraction. The leaves also give the fresh scent, in which sweet, woody and grassy nuances intertwine. The freshness of this scent is due to steam distillation, as the steam carries away only the light molecules and retains the heavy substances in the plant mass. The distilled raw material originates from Bulgaria, where the species occupies shady and calcareous mountain terrains near the forest massifs. The Bulgarian plantations belong to the family Geraniaceae, whose representatives develop thick creeping rhizomes and soft aromatic foliage that persists throughout the warm season. The cultivation of the plantations proceeds naturally, which is why the ratio between the individual volatile groups in the leaves remains unchanged. The unchanged proportions are evident in the predominance of sesquiterpenes, established in scientific analyses of the Bulgarian raw material. Germacrone leads this group and also gives the profile its woody density. The density goes together with the fresh lightness of the scent. The composition of the product is limited to the volatile oil of the leaves. The volatile oil comes entirely from the natural raw material. Preservatives and colourants are not included in the geranium oil.

Application
Geranium, Pelargonium graveolens, holds an important place in the cosmetics industry, where its floral-rosy aroma and balancing properties for the skin make it a preferred ingredient. The essential oil is used in the production of day and night face creams, serums, cleansing products and masks for normal or combination skin. It is included in formulations for body lotions, moisturising formulas and products for dry and sensitive skin thanks to its mild profile. It is widely used in shampoos and hair care products, where it helps keep the scalp in balance. Its floral origin and compatibility with plant extracts make it suitable for natural, organic and vegan lines. It combines well with rosewood, bergamot and ylang-ylang in building luxurious fragrance formulas. It is also used in eau de toilette, refreshing face mists and body products with a pronounced floral scent profile.

Storage

Store natural geranium essential oil in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Maintain a temperature of +5°C to +20°C to prevent oxidation and the loss of beneficial properties. After opening, limit the amount of air in the packaging, and as the contents decrease, transfer the remainder into a smaller, clean and dry bottle. Use only aluminium or glass bottles for cosmetic products, preferably of dark glass, which protect the oil from light. Close tightly after each use so that air and moisture do not penetrate. Observing these conditions preserves the aroma and quality of the product for a longer period.
