Description
We present organic melissa essential oil for pharmaceuticals, obtained from the plant with the botanical name Melissa officinalis. In international practice, the oil is designated as Melissa organic essential oil for pharmaceuticals. The composition comes down to organic plant material, which lacks both preservatives and colourants. The purity of this composition stems from the cultivation method, which keeps the plantations away from synthetic fertilisers, herbicides and pesticides throughout the entire season. The plantations occupy areas in Bulgaria, where all the raw material originates. The raw material comes from a perennial herbaceous crop of the Lamiaceae family, which grows naturally between the Mediterranean and Central Asia and tolerates the temperate climate. Only the aboveground stalk of this crop is used. In addition, the stalk determines the appearance of the oil, whose consistency remains liquid and whose colour stays between a colourless and a pale yellow shade. The light range is due to the aboveground part, which yields a volatile fraction with a weakly expressed pigment of its own. The aroma of the oil remains sharp, and the sweet, spicy and slightly citrus nuances go together. The citrus part of the scent is explained by citral, whose isomers hold the main share among the volatile substances of the species and shape its character. The extraction of these substances takes place through steam distillation, which is why the aromatic purity of the liquid is preserved. The pure aromatic profile goes hand in hand with the organic origin of the plant material. The aboveground stalk of melissa remains the starting raw material for this organic liquid.

In terms of digestion, the oil is included in agents for stimulating the digestive system and for relieving stomach pain, intestinal problems, nausea and stomach infections. Its pronounced antiseptic, anti-inflammatory and antiviral properties allow the enrichment of formulas for the care of a sore throat and breathing difficulties, cough syrups and remedies against colds. The oil is also applied to reduce muscle pain, spasms and tension, to relieve pain in arthritis and migraine, to stimulate blood circulation and lymphatic circulation, to lower high blood pressure, to balance the hormonal system and to soothe skin irritations and allergic reactions. It is also suitable for anti-inflammatory, antipyretic and detoxifying detergents, as well as for preparing soothing syrups for nervous exhaustion.

Storage

Store organic melissa essential oil in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and sources of heat. Maintain a temperature from +5°C to +20°C to prevent oxidation and changes in quality. After opening, limit the amount of air in the packaging, and as the contents decrease, transfer the remainder into a smaller, clean and dry bottle. Use only aluminium or glass bottles for pharmaceutical products, preferably made of dark glass, which protect the essential oil for pharmaceuticals from light. Close tightly after each use to prevent air and moisture from penetrating. Observing these conditions preserves the quality and safety of the product for a longer period.
