The yellow-green colour arises in the green tissue of the leaves, which serve as the sole raw material for extracting the essential fraction from the aboveground plant material. The liquid consistency is accompanied by a strong and intense odour. The odour reveals fresh, green and herbal nuances, which scientific research attributes to the monoterpenes that predominate in the aboveground part of this perennial species.
