Description
Our organic thyme essential oil for foods is obtained from the plant with the botanical name Thymus vulgaris The product is offered under the name Thyme organic essential oil for food. The plant grows in plantations on the territory of Bulgaria, and its place in the taxonomy is within the Lamiaceae family. Members of the family store the essential oil in glandular hairs on the aerial parts, which explains the choice of the stalk as the only raw material for processing. The stalk undergoes steam distillation, and the gentle method transfers only the pure volatile notes into the oil. The volatile notes form the entirely organic composition, as the regime in the plantations follows organic farming. Farming under such a regime excludes synthetic fertilising agents throughout the season. No preservatives or colourants are added to the finished liquid. The liquid carries a strong aroma with a sweet core, a spicy twist and a light citrus finish. The citrus finish is perceptible over a dense base, while the colour ranges from yellow-brown to red-brown. The colour comes from the stalk, in which the pigments sit alongside the aromatic substances. The aromatic substances fill the liquid evenly throughout its entire volume. In addition, the even distribution and the purity of the composition outline the advantages that come from farming in Bulgaria. Farming in Bulgaria develops in a warm and dry climate, which favours the accumulation of essential oil in the green plant material. Organic thyme oil flows freely and retains its liquid form.

Application
Thyme essential oil is widely used in the food sector, where it adds a characteristic warm herbal flavour. It is used to flavour meat dishes, roast chicken, lamb and pork, fish, casseroles, stews and cooked dishes with herbs, as well as to season broths, lentil soups and dishes with legumes. The oil enriches tomato and cooking sauces, pesto, ketchup, cold and hot herbal sauces, salad dressings and homemade mayonnaise. It is incorporated into herbal marinades for meat, mixtures for minced meat, seasoned meatballs, meat pâtés, meat fillings and breadings, and also into flavouring olive oil, herbal and olive-based oils. It is used with stewed and stuffed vegetables, baked potatoes, courgette dishes, side dishes with a herbal accent, rice and dough products, pasta, eggs and omelettes. It is also used in herbal bread rolls, homemade crackers, savoury pancakes, bruschetta, spiced baked goods, cold platters and tapas. The oil further enriches seasoned dairy products and homemade cheeses, preserved vegetables, winter preserves, pickles, sun-dried tomatoes and spicy dips, and creates natural and dry seasoning mixes, herbal cooking blends, spicy seasonings for barbecue and grill, plant-based meat substitutes, vegan burgers and gourmet recipes with natural flavours.
