Description

We offer organic spruce needle hydrolate for animals, obtained from the needles of the plant Picea abies. Outside the country, the liquid bears the name Spruce organic hydrolate for animals. The plant belongs to the Pinaceae family, and the needles are harvested throughout the season from areas in Bulgaria under organic care. Cultivation follows organic practice, which is why neither chemical agents nor artificial fertilizers are applied to the needles throughout the growing period. Only the needles are used for extraction, while the other parts of the tree are set aside. Steam distillation determines the strength of the scent, because the volatile substances of the raw material pass into the aqueous phase and are retained there to the end. The aroma is strong and rests on a fresh base with a resinous side and forest nuances around it. The color ranges from colorless to a pale yellow tint. The pale yellow tint is due to substances that the needles themselves release into the aqueous phase. The clear liquid maintains a consistent appearance throughout its entire depth. The resin ducts in the mesophyll of each needle run along its longitudinal axis and are responsible for the formation and retention of the scent in the tissue itself. Descriptions of the needles list bornyl acetate, limonene, pinene and borneol among the leading volatile constituents in this tree species. Borneol and terpineol are cited as oxygenated monoterpenes with a major share in the aqueous phase. In addition, the liquid takes up water and volatile substances from the harvested needles, while colorants and preservatives remain excluded from its final composition. It also finds application in wipes for cleaning eyes and ears and in travel care products, complementing the daily care of pets.

Storage

Store organic spruce needle hydrolate in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Maintain a temperature of +4°C to +10°C to limit the growth of microorganisms. After opening, use the contents within 6 months and limit the amount of air in the container. Use only aluminum or glass bottles for animal products, preferably dark glass, which protect the hydrolate for animals from light. Close tightly after each use to prevent air and contaminants from entering. Observing these conditions preserves the freshness and quality of the product for a longer period.
