We present a natural sage hydrolate for pharmaceuticals, obtained from the species Salvia sclarea. The liquid is designated as Clary Sage natural hydrolate for pharmaceuticals. The homeland of the raw material is Bulgaria, and cultivation follows natural rules that completely exclude synthetic fertilizers and agents against pests. The species is classified in the Lamiaceae family, where the volatile compounds are found in the stalk and in the inflorescences above the ground, not in the root. The even course of the scent comes from steam distillation, which also shapes its refined olfactory profile in the liquid. The aerial mass is used in the extraction, and linalyl acetate and sclareol accumulate in the large capitate trichomes of the calyx of the flowers of the species. The scent has medium strength, an herbal base and a bitter, spicy direction. Descriptions of the flowering stalk place linalyl acetate, linalool and caryophyllene first among the leading volatile constituents, which shape the entire olfactory picture of the distillate. It is suitable for cleansing lotions for sensitive skin, for inhalation solutions with herbal ingredients, as well as for gels for abrasions with a cooling action, providing every formula with a warm herbal effect.

Storage

Store natural sage hydrolate in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Maintain a temperature of +4°C to +10°C to limit the growth of microorganisms. After opening, use the contents within 6 months and limit the amount of air in the container. Use only aluminum or glass bottles for pharmaceutical products, preferably dark glass, which protect the hydrolate for pharmaceuticals from light. Close tightly after each use to prevent air and contaminants from entering. Observing these conditions preserves the quality and safety of the product for a longer period.
