Description
We present a natural sage hydrolate for perfumery, obtained from the species Salvia sclarea. The product bears the name Clary Sage natural hydrolate for perfumery. The raw material is of Bulgarian origin, and the care of the plantations follows entirely natural rules. Cultivation excludes synthetic fertilizers and all chemical agents against pests, which keeps the flowering stalk free from external impurities of foreign origin. The species belongs to the Lamiaceae family, where the aroma accumulates in the flowering stalk above the ground. It is precisely the aerial mass that is used in the extraction, and in this species capitate and peltate glandular trichomes develop on the calyx of the flowers. The large capitate trichomes accumulate linalyl acetate and sclareol in their cavity. The color of the distillate ranges from colorless to slightly yellowish and goes no further. The aqueous phase appears clear and homogeneous, without separated particles. The aroma is of medium strength, and the bitter, herbal and spicy directions merge into a single whole. The scent gains its purity during steam distillation, since mainly the polar oxygenated volatile compounds of the flowering stalk of the species remain in the water. Linalyl acetate, linalool and caryophyllene are described as the leading constituents and shape the herbal character. The natural composition comprises only plant constituents and is entirely free of preservatives and colorants. Without additives, the scent relies solely on the aerial mass, so the olfactory picture does not change until the very end of the overall impression. The bitter direction comes first, while the spicy one stands behind it and lingers for a long time. The character of the sage remains perceptible until the very last moment. The herbal direction of the distillate is due to the aerial origin of the raw material.
Application
Sage stalk hydrolate obtained by steam distillation is a valued ingredient in perfumery thanks to its warm, herbal nuance with a floral hint. The liquid is incorporated into eaux de toilette with herbal notes, aromatic body sprays and essences for personalized fragrances. It is used as a base in compositions with a delicate herbal character, in blends for unisex fragrances, as well as in hair sprays with a light effect. It is used in elixirs for home blends, in mixes for boutique collections and in aromatic drops for the individual creation of compositions. It also finds application in aromatic creams with a soft texture, in diffusers with a warm herbal base, as well as in sprays for scenting accessories. It is suitable for compositions with a balanced profile, for roll-on formats for daily use, as well as for concentrates intended for niche fragrance lines. The warm herbal character of the ingredient complements a variety of aromatic profiles without weighing down the final composition.
Storage
Store natural sage hydrolate in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Maintain a temperature of +4°C to +10°C to limit the growth of microorganisms. After opening, use the contents within 6 months and limit the amount of air in the container. Use only aluminum or glass bottles for perfumery products, preferably dark glass, which protect the perfumery hydrolate from light. Close tightly after each use to prevent air and contaminants from entering. Observing these conditions preserves the freshness and quality of the product for a longer period.
