We present organic oregano hydrolate for supplements, which comes from the leaf blade of the species Origanum Vulgare. In international practice, the distillate is designated as Oregano Organic Hydrolat for Supplements. Under the organic regime, the fields receive no external substances, which is why the composition of the distillate is limited to plant ingredients, without preservatives and without colorants. The species belongs to the Lamiaceae family, and the crops occupy Bulgarian land designated for growing the herb. Steam distillation is responsible for the clear aromatic profile, as it retains only the volatile part of the leaf raw material from the fields themselves. The color of the finished distillate ranges from colorless to slightly yellowish. The aroma has a strong and clear expression. The scent rests on a spicy, herbal and bitter base of the distillate. The product remains in a liquid state throughout its entire volume. The peltate glandular trichomes on the leaf material produce the volatile fraction and determine the rich aromatic character of the raw material, and with it comes its great strength. The glandular cells are hidden beneath a common cuticle, and the secretion is released when the cuticle ruptures on the leaf surface. Carvacrol and thymol predominate in the phenolic group in this species, while cymene and terpinene follow immediately after them in the overall composition. The chemotypes of the species vary, and the acyclic one among them carries linalool and linalyl acetate. In addition, the light color and the leaf basis are linked, since the leaf blade leaves a faint yellowish tint in the finished distillate. It is precisely the leaf blade that provides the main share of the volatile substances. The final liquid combines a strong scent, a light yellowish color and a plant-based composition.
