Description
Our natural nettle hydrolate for aromatherapy comes from the plant with the botanical name Urtica dioica. In international practice, the liquid is referred to as Nettle natural hydrolate for aromatherapy. The Urticaceae family unites herbaceous species with small flowers and an extensive leaf mass that defines the appearance of the plant. Only the leaves are used for extraction. The leaves are opposite, with an ovate blade, a cordate base and a serrated margin, and this shape is already evident when inspecting the initial plant mass. The fields in Bulgaria are managed naturally, and no artificial auxiliary substances are used in cultivation. The natural cultivation regime is directly reflected in the composition, as preservatives, colorants and other additives foreign to the plant remain completely outside it. Steam distillation is the basis of the extraction. Distillation with steam limits the range of dissolved compounds, which is why the aromatic profile of the finished liquid remains clean and free of extraneous shades. The species releases few volatile substances and is not counted among the classic sources of essential oil, so the aqueous phase takes up a restrained aromatic fraction. The soft strength of the scent is due precisely to this limited volatile fraction. The scent combines a fresh and an earthy direction, complemented by herbal notes. When fresh raw material is distilled, mainly alcohols pass into the aqueous phase, among them hexenol with a grassy green character, which explains the fresh green thread in the profile. The leaf origin of the raw material explains the pale tone of the liquid, which ranges from colorless to pale yellow. The product is a liquid of uniform consistency. In addition, the absence of added dyes leaves the color entirely dependent on the dissolved plant substances. The nettle yields a restrained aqueous distillate in which the soft strength of the scent and the light tone go together.
