Description

We present natural Mentha piperita hydrolate for drinks, obtained from the plant Mentha piperita, which belongs to the Lamiaceae family. Outside the country, the product is offered under the name Mentha Piperita natural hydrolate for drinks. The raw material comes from the leaves of the cultivated plants. The plantations develop in Bulgaria, and the plants are grown naturally without artificial fertilizers. Since the plants receive no outside support, the composition of the liquid consists solely of the substances from the processed leaf mass and remains completely natural. Preservatives and colorants are absent from the distillate. The aromatic substances are extracted by steam distillation. It is precisely the steam processing method that determines the purity of the mint fragrance in the finished liquid. The fragrance is high in strength, and its profile combines a minty, fresh and cooling side in a unified and recognizable character of the distillate. The color of the distillate ranges from colorless to slightly greenish, which is why the liquid retains a light and clear appearance. The consistency of the liquid remains homogeneous throughout the entire mass. By origin, the species is a hybrid obtained by crossing a water species with a spike-flowered species of the genus. Along with menthol and menthone, menthyl acetate and limonene are evident in the volatile fraction of the species, which explains the high level of fragrance in the liquid. The leaf part provides the greenish tint, and steam extraction preserves the sharpness of the mint tone in the liquid. The volatile fraction is formed in the glandular hairs on the aerial part, which is why the raw material carries its concentrated aromatic character even before processing begins. The hydrolate unites the light tone, the clarity and the strong fragrance by which Mentha piperita is recognized in distillates.

It is also used in the preparation of cocktail syrups, in mocktails with invigorating freshness, as well as in refreshing formulas with a balanced taste. It also finds application in smoothies with a mint base, in tea infusions with a refreshing character, as well as in fermented tea formulas with a light mint note. It is also used in the production of tonic solutions with a refreshing effect, in isotonic formulas for athletes, as well as in flavored syrups for the home preparation of refreshing cocktails with an authentic mint taste.

Storage

Store natural Mentha piperita hydrolate in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Maintain a temperature of +4°C to +10°C to limit the growth of microorganisms. After opening, use the contents within 6 months and limit the amount of air in the container. Use only aluminum or glass bottles for drink products, preferably dark glass, which protect the hydrolate for drinks from light. Close tightly after each use to prevent air and contaminants from entering. Observing these conditions preserves the quality and safety of the product for a longer period.
