Description
Our natural melissa hydrolate for perfumery is obtained from the species Melissa officinalis. It is offered under the name Melissa natural hydrolate for perfumery and is recognized by this name outside the country. The aromatic profile of the liquid follows a fresh, herbal and citrus direction. The aroma manifests itself with mild strength. Extraction is carried out by steam distillation, and it is precisely steam extraction that determines the closeness between the aroma of the liquid and that of the original leaves. The stalked leaves with an ovate shape and a serrated margin around the cordate base of the blade are used for processing. The non-volatile rosmarinic acid remains in the plant residue and does not enter the composition of the finished leaf distillate. The shade of the liquid ranges from colorless to faintly yellowish. In its consistency, the product remains a uniform liquid. The plant belongs to the botanical family Lamiaceae. The leaf raw material comes from plantations in Bulgaria, where the plants are grown naturally and without artificial intervention. Since no artificial agents are used in cultivation, the distillate has a natural composition and remains free of added preservatives or colorants. In addition, the volatile substances accumulate in glandular hairs on the leaf surface, which gives the scent its mildness in the finished liquid. The light shade results from the leaf part used, while the mild aroma comes from the steam extraction method. More precisely, the connection between the leaves used and steam extraction shapes the light shade and mild character with which melissa reaches the final distillate.
Application
Melissa leaf hydrolate, extracted naturally by steam distillation, is used in perfumery for its fresh, citrus-herbal profile with delicate floral notes. It is suitable for creating light eaux de toilette, essences with a balanced character and niche fragrances inspired by nature. It is applied in compositions for refreshing body sprays, aromatic hair waters and home atmosphere products with a calming effect. It is also used in the development of fragrances for textiles, scented candles and diffusers, to which it imparts a fresh, herbal depth. Specialists in creating compositions value it for the warm and gentle character of its aroma, which blends well with citrus, green and slightly sweet notes, bringing naturalness to the final product. It is also valued in the production of car interior fresheners, combined essences for diffusion in enclosed spaces and scented wardrobe sachets.
