The phthalides ligustilide and butylphthalide form the basis of the aroma released by the fresh leaf mass, and this is the source of the fresh green thread of the scent. Since extraction is carried out with steam, the distillate has a mild scent strength and remains light in character throughout its aromatic picture. The leaves give the liquid a light yellow-green color. The plantations are grown in Bulgaria in a natural way.
