Description
We present natural lavender essential oil for perfumery, obtained from the species Lavandula angustifolia. In international trade, the oil is offered under the name Bulgarian Lavender natural essential oil for perfumery. The oil has a liquid consistency and a faint colour ranging from colourless to pale yellowish. The pale colouring comes from the flowering stalk because the aboveground part releases few colouring substances during steam distillation of the freshly harvested plant raw material. Steam distillation retains only the volatile ingredients in the liquid, so the scent preserves a purity close to the fragrance of the living flowering plant in the field. The aromatic profile follows a floral and herbal direction with a mild intensity. The mild intensity keeps the floral side moderate, while the herbal side remains more subdued. The carrier of the scent is a plant of the Lamiaceae family, in which the glandular hairs on the aboveground organs produce and store the volatile substances for a long time. The density of the hairs increases towards the flowering tops, so the stalk remains the main raw material for extraction. The stalk comes from Bulgarian plantations, and Bulgaria holds a leading share in the global cultivation of the crop. In addition, the Bulgarian origin goes hand in hand with natural cultivation, which determines the entirely natural composition. The composition comprises only the volatile material of the flowering aboveground part, while preservatives and colourants are absent. Natural cultivation, the flowering stalk and gentle steam extraction determine the qualities of the oil. The product's scent carries the character of linalyl acetate.
Application
Lavender essential oil is primarily used in perfumery, where it serves to create floral top notes and compositions with a fresh, clean and herbal character. It fits equally well into women's, men's and unisex fragrances, adding elegance, woody accents and a balanced profile, while in niche and boutique lines with a botanical basis it contributes to an authentic and natural character. The oil is suitable for eaux de toilette with a relaxing effect, for fragrance oils with depth and softness, for body sprays, as well as for luxury and limited series with a natural character. It combines harmoniously with citrus and woody notes, making it a valuable component in powdery compositions with herbal nuances, in fresh spring fragrances and in elegant evening combinations with a herbal finish. Beyond fine fragrances, it is used to scent organic cosmetics, hair products, soaps and creams, as well as in scented candles, diffusers, room fresheners, bed linen sprays and products for scenting clothes and textiles. It is also suitable for aromatherapy blends, compositions for SPA treatments with a relaxing effect, aromatic gift sets and products with a minimalist and environmentally friendly profile intended for daily use.
Storage
Store natural lavender essential oil in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Maintain a temperature of +5°C to +20°C to prevent oxidation and the loss of beneficial properties. After opening, limit the amount of air in the packaging and, as the contents decrease, transfer the remainder to a smaller, clean and dry bottle. Use only aluminium or glass bottles for perfumery products, preferably dark glass, which protect the essential oil for perfumery from light. Close tightly after each use to prevent air and moisture from entering. Observing these conditions preserves the aroma and quality of the product for a longer period.
