In international trade, the product is designated as Bulgarian Lavender natural essential oil for detergents. The composition of the product remains entirely natural and consists solely of the volatile material that the plant produces and stores in its aboveground organs. The natural composition excludes preservatives and colourants, and its purity comes from the natural cultivation of the plantations. Cultivation takes place in Bulgaria, where the crop covers extensive fields in the country's open lowland areas. The Bulgarian plantations yield flowering stalks from a representative of the Lamiaceae family. Members of this family densely accumulate volatile substances in the small glandular hairs on the aboveground organs of the stem, leaves and flower calyces. The hairs are most numerous on the flowering tops, so the stalk remains the main raw material. In addition, the stalk enters extraction in a fresh state, preserving the volatile profile of the raw material in its natural entirety. Steam distillation leaves only the volatile ingredients in the oil, so the scent remains pure and close to the profile of the living flowering plant. The scent unfolds with a mild intensity in a herbal and floral direction. The mild intensity goes hand in hand with the product's liquid consistency. The liquid displays a faint colour ranging from colourless to pale yellowish. The faint colour originates from the aboveground part used, as the stalk releases few pigments during extraction. Linalyl acetate and linalool account for the main share of the scent.
