The base owes its character to linalool and linalyl acetate, cited in the scientific literature among the leading volatile compounds of this narrow-leaved species from the temperate zone. The two compounds sustain a strong scent. The scent opens fresh and unfolds a broad floral fullness, while the herbal finish arrives with a light sweetness. The sweetness is carried by a dense, oily medium with a dark yellow to amber hue. The hue remains uniform throughout the entire depth of the medium. The dense medium comes from the slower molecules that the extraction separates together with the mobile volatile substances of the stalk harvested at the beginning of flowering. The stalk is harvested in full bloom, when the glandular hairs carry their richest aromatic set. Storage
