The liquid has a light yellow to yellowish-green colour, which the needles impart to it during extraction. The colour goes together with the aroma, which remains strong, while its freshness passes into a resinous tone with a herbal finish. The resinous tone comes from the monoterpene hydrocarbons, which make up the main part of the aromatic profile of the species. The aromatic profile retains its purity, since steam distillation transfers the hydrocarbons in unchanged form and conveys the freshness of the needles directly into the liquid. In addition, the method preserves the natural appearance of the source raw material. The natural appearance remains entirely plant-based, which is why the product retains the character of the plant. The raw material originates from Bulgaria, where the plantations occupy open mountain slopes with poor soils and prolonged sunshine during the warm half of the year.
