Description

We present organic juniper berry hydrolate for supplements, whose raw material is taken from a plant with the botanical name Juniperus communis. The distillate is known in practice as Juniper Berry organic hydrolate for supplements. The species belongs to the Cupressaceae family. Only the ripe fruits are processed, and each female cone has scales fully fused together and a dense, uniform fleshy mass. At first the cones bear a reddish tone, while the ripe ones reach a blue-black color with a waxy bloom. The trees are grown in Bulgaria according to organic rules, without synthetic agents. Steam distillation of the ripe, unfermented fruits preserves the purity of the scent, since no solvents are involved in the entire extraction, and the volatile part comes from the cones. The aqueous part retains the oxygenated volatile compounds, and it is precisely these that outline the aromatic direction. The aroma remains strong. The resinous side complements the fresh pine tone in the overall scent. Monoterpene hydrocarbons predominate in the volatile fraction, and pinene, myrcene and sabinene are consistently found among them. The hydrolate remains a clear liquid with a color that varies between colorless and pale yellow. The fruit basis of the raw material accounts for the faint color, because the water carries away mainly colorless constituents, while the pigments are retained in the fleshy mass of the cone. Preservatives and colorants have no place in the organic composition. In addition, the organic cultivation regime and the narrowly defined raw material produce a liquid whose composition includes only plant substances and water. The strong scent, the clear liquid form and the faint color shape the appearance of the juniper hydrolate.
