Description
We present a natural geranium root hydrolate for supplements, obtained from the species Geranium macrorrhizum. In international practice, the product is designated as Geranium Root natural hydrolate for supplements. The rhizome is thick and fleshy, and its position remains close to the soil surface, along which it spreads with a shallow creeping course. The underground part is processed, which determines the pale yellow to greenish color of the liquid. The distillate is a clear and mobile liquid with a uniform appearance. Natural cultivation on Bulgarian soil is behind the composition of the product and the purity of its volatile part, which carries the aromatic picture. Production follows the path of steam distillation, which keeps the scent pure and herbal. Preservatives and colorants are not part of the composition, which is limited to the aqueous phase and the volatile substances of the root mass. The warm herbal direction also carries a light sweet note. The aromatic strength lies within the soft range of the scale. The taxonomic affiliation of the plant leads to the Geraniaceae family. Elemenone, globulol and guaiene remain dominant in the volatile fraction of the underground part, which is why the aroma acquires a warm herbal appearance with a light sweetness. The way the plantations are tended determines the composition, while the underground part used explains the color of the liquid. The chemotypes of the species differ, as some lines contain citronellol and geraniol, while others are based mainly on sesquiterpene ketones. In addition, the soft aromatic intensity accompanies the liquid throughout its volume. The finished geranium distillate combines a root origin, a clear appearance and a warm herbal aroma.
