Description

Our natural geranium leaf hydrolate for aromatherapy originates from the plant of the species Geranium macrorrhizum. In international practice, the product bears the name Geranium Leaf natural hydrolate for aromatherapy. The species belongs to the Geraniaceae family, and the plantations occupy fields in Bulgaria. Fresh plant material from the leaves and stems is used for extraction, as that is where the main part of the plant's volatile substances accumulates. The glandular trichomes on the leaf surface release the secretion into a subcuticular cavity, which explains the soft yet persistent expression of the fragrance in the finished distillate from the leaves. Steam distillation transfers the volatile profile without loss, and therefore the finished liquid retains the character of the leaf tissue of this species. The coloration ranges from light yellow to a greenish tone. The product remains in liquid form. The soft character of the fragrance is preserved throughout the volume. The herbal, warm and slightly sweet sides are perceived together. The plants are grown naturally, so the composition contains no added preservatives or colorants. Among the leading aromatic constituents of the distillate are citronellol, geraniol, citronellyl formate and linalool. Monoterpene alcohols and esters define the profile of this species and explain the warm herbal direction of the fragrance of the finished geranium leaf hydrolate. The natural regime of the fields in Bulgaria maintains the purity of the raw material, while steam distillation ensures the consistency of the aromatic profile in the finished liquid. The leaf tissue also provides the greenish component of the coloration, namely the pigments that remain dissolved in the aqueous base. The final liquid brings together the natural origin, the leaf source and the soft herbal fragrance.
