The plantations grow in Bulgaria under an organic regime that keeps synthetic agents and mineral fertilizers away. The Burseraceae family includes the species according to botanical systematics. Only the resin is used, and in this genus the resin canals form a dense network in the inner bark and work most intensively near the cambium. Steam distillation leaves the aroma pure, since no solvents enter the extraction and the volatile part comes entirely from the original resin of the tree. The polar oxygen-containing volatile compounds pass mainly into the aqueous phase, and it is precisely they that outline the aromatic direction of the finished liquid.
