Description

Our natural fennel seed hydrolate for aromatherapy originates from the plant of the species Foeniculum vulgare. International practice designates the product as Fennel Seed natural hydrolate for aromatherapy. The species belongs to the Apiaceae family, and the plantations grow in Bulgarian fields. The raw material is the dry fruit of the plant, as the herbal part of this species is defined in exactly this way in practice. The fruit is a schizocarp and, when fully ripe, splits into mericarps with longitudinal ribs, which shapes the appearance of the harvested seed raw material. In the pericarp of the mericarps lie oil ducts where the volatile fraction accumulates, which is why the aroma remains dense right up to the extraction itself. Steam distillation transfers the composition without change, so the finished liquid follows the character of the harvested seed raw material. The color ranges from light yellow to greenish. The product remains in liquid form. The strength of the aroma is at a medium level. The herbal base is complemented by warmth and a slight sweetness. Natural cultivation keeps the composition pure and leaves no room for added preservatives or colorants. The sweetish direction of the scent is due to constituents such as anethole, fenchone and limonene, described in the volatile fraction of the species. The oil ducts in the fruit wall explain the medium strength of the aroma, while the ratio between the individual constituents sets its warm herbal direction with a sweet finish. The light color comes from the seed tissue, and the aqueous base keeps the volatile substances dissolved throughout the entire volume of the liquid. Storage
