Description

Our organic sage hydrolate for aromatherapy is sourced from the plant with the botanical name Salvia sclarea. In international practice, the product is designated as Clary Sage organic hydrolate for aromatherapy. The species belongs to the Lamiaceae family, and its scent accumulates in the flowering stalk high above the soil and far from the root. The entire flowering aerial mass is processed, with the large capitate trichomes on the calyx of the flowers forming linalyl acetate and sclareol in their cavity. Capitate and peltate glandular trichomes cover the calyx of the flowers and form the glandular covering of the entire inflorescence of the species. The organic rules in Bulgaria exclude chemical agents and mineral fertilizers, which keeps the stalk free from foreign residues of external origin. It is precisely the organic conditions that preserve the ratio of the volatile substances, which is why the olfactory profile comes solely from the plant material of the plantations. Steam distillation shapes the soft course of the aroma, as the aqueous medium retains mainly the polar oxygenated volatile compounds from the flowering aerial mass. The product is a clear liquid without separated particles. The color starts from colorless and remains at most slightly yellowish. The faint tint suggests scarce coloring substances in the distillate. The medium strength of the aroma determines the moderate presence of the bitter, herbal and spicy directions. The leading volatile constituents of the flowering raw material are linalyl acetate, linalool and caryophyllene. The bitter line sets the initial tone, while the spicy one follows it and lingers longer. The organic composition is entirely free of preservatives and colorants. The absence of additives links the olfactory profile solely to the flowering aerial mass and to the care that the plantations receive in the country of origin. The herbal base of the scent is due to the stalk origin of the sage.

Storage

Store organic sage hydrolate in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Maintain a temperature of +4°C to +10°C to limit the growth of microorganisms. After opening, use the contents within 6 months and limit the amount of air in the container. Use only aluminum or glass bottles for aromatherapy products, preferably dark glass, which protect the aromatherapy hydrolate from light. Close tightly after each use to prevent air and contaminants from entering. Observing these conditions preserves the freshness and quality of the product for a longer period.
