Description

Our natural basil hydrolate for foods is obtained from the species Ocimum basilicum. The liquid is offered under the name Basil natural hydrolate for food. The plant is part of the Lamiaceae family, and the harvest is gathered in Bulgaria, as is evident in the liquid itself. The composition of the liquid remains entirely natural. It contains a distilled aqueous base and the volatile substances of the leaves dissolved in it, while preservatives and colorants are completely absent from the liquid. The volatile substances shape the entire olfactory image of the product. The leaves belong to an annual herbaceous plant that develops in a warm climate and direct sunshine throughout its entire growing season. The plant finds such conditions in Bulgaria, where the farm works in a natural way and without chemical intervention. The natural way maintains the natural ratio between the volatile constituents, which is why the olfactory image of the distillate remains the same throughout its entire volume. The leaf mass is subjected to steam distillation, as this method carries into the water only the lightest and most soluble part of the volatile reserve. The water takes on a golden yellow color and retains its clear appearance. The color comes entirely from the plant material. The scent above the liquid holds medium strength and a grassy-sweet character. The medium strength makes the character distinct, while the sweet part gives it a smooth finish that lingers until the last perceptible sensation. The smooth finish results from gentle extraction, and in addition it rests on the natural plant base that stands behind the entire olfactory image of the distillate. The plant base excludes the participation of foreign ingredients in the liquid. The leaves remain the only plant part that gives scent to this aqueous distillate.

Application
Basil leaf hydrolate has a wide range of uses in the preparation of foods, adding a subtle grassy aroma to flavoring sauces, salad dressings and marinades for vegetable dishes. It is suitable for creamy spreads, savory creams, vegetable dips and spreading pastes, as well as for flavoring oils intended for cold starters and bruschetta. In hot cooking, it is added to vegetable cream soups, risotto, pasta dishes, braised vegetables and roasted potatoes, as well as to side dishes of rice, quinoa, bulgur or couscous, to which it gives a delicate herbal note. In baking, it can enrich bread products, salted biscuits, crackers, focaccia and pizzas, and it is also included in fillings for pies, tartlets, savory pancakes and pastry rolls. It pairs well with lasagna with vegetable layers, stuffed vegetables, vegetable casseroles and soufflés, as well as with bean dishes and lentils. Its refreshing character makes it suitable for cold soups, potato and pasta salads, vegetable mousses and pâtés, and in combination with roasted mushrooms, zucchini and eggplants it complements the natural taste of the products with a soft aromatic nuance.
