Description
Our natural basil essential oil for detergents is obtained from the species Ocimum basilicum. In international practice, the product is offered under the name Basil natural essential oil for detergents. The oil acquires its pure scent through steam distillation, which transfers only the volatile ingredients of the harvested herbal raw material into the finished liquid. Distillation leaves the non-volatile substances in the processed plant material. The non-volatile fraction remains outside the product, so the olfactory profile is determined entirely by the herbal raw material itself. The raw material comes from the above-ground stalk of a plant that botanical science places in the family Lamiaceae. The family brings together herbs whose leaves contain aromatic essential oils, while their stems retain the characteristic square cross-section. The leaves and stems are harvested in Bulgaria from plantings grown under a natural cultivation regime. Natural cultivation preserves the pure plant tissue, and the composition of the oil consists entirely of the substances belonging to the harvested above-ground herb itself. No preservatives are added to the product. Colourants are absent for the same reason. The composition also determines the appearance of the product, which is a golden-yellow liquid. The golden-yellow hue comes from the processed above-ground stalk, as the plant part used determines the colour of the liquid obtained after extraction. The liquid carries a strong aroma of a herbaceous, sweet type, built on a full herbal base and clearly defined throughout its olfactory profile. The aroma of Bulgarian basil remains equally distinct throughout the liquid consistency. In addition, the finished product retains an entirely natural composition.
Application
Basil essential oil is used in the production of household cleaning and disinfecting detergents thanks to its pronounced antimicrobial properties. It is included in sprays for kitchen worktops, floor coverings, sanitary facilities and toilets, imparting a fresh herbaceous aroma and helping maintain hygiene. It is suitable for concentrated formulas and ready-to-use solutions for surface disinfection, liquid soaps and antibacterial hand gels, as well as products for cleaning kitchen appliances and refrigerators. It is also included in scented cleaning tablets, toilet cistern discs and ready-to-use wet wipes with a hygienic effect. In combination with tea tree, eucalyptus and lavender, it strengthens the action of bioactive compositions of natural origin. A key advantage is that it replaces synthetic fragrances in eco-friendly and green cleaning ranges and can be incorporated into products certified to biodegradability standards. Its concentrated nature means it is used in small amounts that provide a lasting fresh aroma. Dosing must comply with the regulatory requirements for the relevant type of detergent.
Storage
Store natural basil essential oil in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Maintain a temperature of +5°C to +20°C to prevent oxidation and the loss of beneficial properties. After opening, limit the amount of air in the packaging and, as the contents decrease, transfer the remainder to a smaller, clean and dry bottle. Use only aluminium or glass bottles for detergent products, preferably dark glass, which protect the essential oil for detergents from light. Close tightly after each use to prevent air and moisture from entering. Observing these conditions preserves the aroma and quality of the product for a longer period.
