We present organic Mentha spicata essential oil for drinks, obtained from the species Mentha spicata. It bears the name Spearmint organic essential oil for drinks in international trade. The scent of the oil brings together a fresh and sweet side around a menthol direction, and the strength of its odour remains medium. The liquid consistency goes together with a light tone that ranges from colourless to pale yellow in the finished product. The light tone follows from the choice of the aboveground stalk, as the green tissue imparts only a very faint colour to the liquid after steam distillation. Steam distillation retains only the volatile part, so the olfactory characteristic of the product remains pure and true to the original plant raw material from the plantations. The composition is built entirely from organic plant substances. Colourants and preservatives stay away from this blend. Carvone holds the leading place among the volatile compounds, and limonene accompanies it among the other substances. The plant belongs to the Lamiaceae family, whose species bear a square stalk and glandular structures on the aerial parts, where the essential oil accumulates. The plantations grow in Bulgaria and are maintained organically. Organic cultivation determines the purity the composition receives, which is why only plant substances from the aboveground part of the species enter the volatile blend.
