We present natural Mentha spicata essential oil for cosmetics, obtained from the plant with the botanical name Mentha spicata. The product bears the name Spearmint natural essential oil for cosmetics in international trade practice. The product is a clear liquid whose tone ranges from colourless to a pale yellow shade. The light tone comes from the stalk, which serves as the raw material for extraction. The raw material yields a scent of medium strength, in which the fresh and sweet notes intertwine with the clearly perceptible menthol nuance of the plant. The nuance is due to carvone, the leading volatile compound in the olfactory profile of this botanical species. The olfactory profile remains pure due to steam distillation, which separates only the volatile part from the stalk. The volatile part forms the entirely natural composition, which has remained free of added preservatives and colourants. The natural cultivation method shapes the composition, so the oil retains the full range of volatile substances formed in the green aerial parts of the plant. The plant grows in Bulgaria, where the temperate zone suits the perennial herbaceous species of the botanical family Lamiaceae, to which the crop belongs. It also finds application in scalp and hair care through shampoos and balsams that regulate oiliness, as well as in deodorants, lip balms and after-shave products, thanks to the soothing and fresh sensation it imparts. Its aroma, combined with a slight cooling action on the skin, makes it a suitable ingredient for seasonal lines for summer freshness, as well as for everyday products for skin hygiene and toning.

Storage

Store natural Mentha spicata essential oil in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Maintain a temperature of +5°C to +20°C to prevent oxidation and the loss of beneficial properties. After opening, limit the amount of air in the packaging, and as the contents decrease, transfer the remainder into a smaller, clean and dry bottle.
