The liquid is offered under the name Immortelle organic CO2 select extract for aromatherapy. The fields for the raw material lie on arable land in the southern part of Bulgaria. Botanical systematics assigns the species to the extensive Asteraceae family together with numerous relatives. Science recognises four subspecies within the species, and one of them occupies the widest area across the entire Mediterranean and on the surrounding islands. Cultivation follows an organic regime, as the soil and the crops remain free of synthetic fertilisers and chemical agents throughout their entire growing season. Only the flower heads serve as the plant part used in production. The pigments of the flowers give the finished liquid its dark yellow, amber or orange tone. The extraction of the volatile fraction works with supercritical carbon dioxide. The absence of residual solvents results entirely from this method, which is why the aroma remains pure and true to the original living flower head from the field.
