Description
We present an organic hydrolate from the geranium rhizome for perfumery, obtained from the species Geranium macrorrhizum. The hydrolate is known as Geranium Root organic hydrolate for perfumery. The herbal line leads in the scent, warmth stands close behind it, and the light sweetness appears at the end and closes the overall aromatic picture. The scent remains of soft strength. The small volatile content in the aqueous phase determines the soft range of aromatic strength in this finished distillate. The liquid carries a pale yellow to greenish tone. The pigments from the underground part determine this tone, since only the perennial rhizome of the plant itself goes into processing. Elemenone, globulol and guaiene occupy a leading place among the volatile substances of the underground organ, and these sesquiterpenes sustain the warm thread of the overall scent. Production here is carried out by steam distillation. The method determines the aromatic character of the liquid, which is why the finished distillate stays close to the original line of the underground raw material. The plantations in Bulgaria are tended organically, which is why the composition is limited to an aqueous base and volatile substances from the root. Colorants and preservatives remain outside the composition. The Geraniaceae family unites genera in which the perennial rhizome accumulates volatile compounds, while the above-ground mass contributes a smaller share of the total volatile part. In addition, the rhizome is harvested in autumn, which places the production at the very end of the growing cycle. The product is a clear liquid, while its aromatic part remains dissolved in the aqueous base of the distillate itself. The geranium rhizome sets both the tone of the liquid and the warm herbal character of its final scent.
Application
Geranium root hydrolate finds application as a component in perfumery with a natural character, where it contributes a warm herbal base and a light earthy nuance. It is included in aromatic waters and eaux de toilette, in niche and signature compositions, as well as in unisex fragrances where a long-lasting green base is sought. It is suitable for aroma mists, refreshing sprays and body waters, as well as for light water-based alcohol-free formulas intended for daily use. In organic cosmetics, it serves to enrich the fragrance of creams and other products and is used in solid essences, in mild deodorizing waters with a delicate scent and in aftershave waters with a warm herbal profile. It is also applied in hair sprays with a natural composition, in mild formulations for sensitive skin and in children's aromatic waters of organic origin. Besides body products, it also takes part in home fragrancing, for example in air fresheners, mists for pillows and bed linen, sprays for fabrics and clothes and interior waters, as well as in products for spas and wellness centers. It is also used in the creation of personalized and signature fragrances, in blends for special occasions and in essences for scenting invitations and gift sets.
Storage
Store organic geranium root hydrolate in a dark, cool and dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Maintain a temperature of +4°C to +10°C to limit the growth of microorganisms. After opening, use the contents within 6 months and limit the amount of air in the container. Use only aluminum or glass bottles for perfumery products, preferably dark glass, which protect the perfumery hydrolate from light. Close tightly after each use to prevent air and contaminants from entering. Observing these conditions preserves the freshness and quality of the product for a longer period.
