Description
We offer an organic geranium root hydrolate for cosmetics, obtained from the plant Geranium macrorrhizum. The product bears the name Geranium Root organic hydrolate for cosmetics. Some plants of the species contain citronellol and geraniol, while others contain sesquiterpene ketones, and the difference is evident in the character of the scent itself. The herbal base goes with a warm and slightly sweet tint. The soft aromatic strength comes from the low volatile content that the aqueous base carries in the finished distillate. The color shifts from pale yellow to greenish. The rhizome releases the pigments that shape this tone, which is why the plant part and the color of the liquid go together in the overall picture of the product. Steam distillation is the basis of production, as this method determines the purity of the aromatic profile and the simplified appearance of the composition. The plants are tended organically on Bulgarian land. Organic tending of the plantations limits the content to water and volatile compounds, so that colorants and preservatives remain entirely outside the finished liquid. The finished product is a clear liquid. The Geraniaceae family includes genera with perennial rhizomes in which volatile compounds are retained below the soil surface as well, and not only in the flowers. The warm tint comes from the sesquiterpene part, while the light sweetness complements the herbal backbone of the overall aromatic profile of the distillate. In addition, the origin of the raw material remains Bulgarian along the entire path from the plantation to the finished distillate. The underground part is harvested in autumn and goes into processing, more precisely into distillation, which shapes the final aromatic character. The geranium root determines both the tone of the liquid and the direction of its scent.
Application
Geranium root hydrolate finds wide application in skin care and is a valuable ingredient in organic cosmetics. It is incorporated into toners with a balancing action that support the skin after cleansing, as well as into micellar waters with a gentle formula for daily use. It is suitable for hydrating sprays for sensitive skin and for refreshing during the day, including over makeup or after sports. In face masks, it brings a soothing and cooling effect, and in creams for combination and oily skin, it helps control oiliness and gives a matte finish. Serums containing it are aimed at regulating sebum and provide antioxidant support, while facial lotions help even out the complexion and reduce the visibility of pores. The product is suitable for formulas for skin prone to irritation, redness and inflammation, including care for rosacea and acne. It is used in soothing eye contour creams, in products for restoring the barrier function and in emulsions for daily care. It can be part of aftershave creams, refreshing toners for men and lotions for the décolleté and neck. It is also applied as a base water in light-textured day creams, night creams with nourishing properties and hydrating hand creams. In addition, it serves as a base for the homemade preparation of face and body products, as well as an ingredient in professional formulas for maintaining youthful skin.
