Description

We present a natural hydrolate from the underground part of geranium for perfumery, obtained from the species Geranium macrorrhizum. The distillate is offered under the name Geranium Root natural hydrolate for perfumery. The extraction is based on steam distillation, and it is precisely this that determines the purity of the aromatic picture in the finished product. The herbal base combines with warmth and a light sweet finish in the fragrance. Bulgarian plantations supply the raw material, and natural cultivation is reflected both in the purity of the composition and in the volatile part of the liquid. The underground part grows as a thick, fleshy rhizome lying shallowly above the soil surface, and it is precisely from it that the raw material for the distillate comes. The distillate retains a clear and uniform appearance throughout its volume. The Geraniaceae family unites the species together with its close relatives. The underground part is used for the extraction, and this is the source of the pale yellow to greenish tint of the distillate. The chemotype diversity includes lines with citronellol and geraniol alongside lines in which sesquiterpene ketones predominate, which is why the aromatic profiles differ. The aroma remains soft in its strength. The composition is limited to the aqueous phase and the volatile constituents of the raw material, while preservatives and colorants are absent. The sesquiterpenes elemenone, globulol and guaiene occupy a leading place in the volatile fraction of the underground part, which gives the liquid a warm herbal character with a light sweetness. The root origin explains the color range, while the production method keeps the aroma pure. The soft aromatic strength accompanies the entire liquid. The finished geranium product brings together a root origin, soft strength and a warm herbal direction.

Application
In the perfumery sector, geranium root hydrolate is used as an aromatic base with a soft earthy and herbal character, suitable for essences, eaux de toilette and colognes with a natural profile. It finds application in niche and signature compositions, to which it adds green depth and delicate freshness, as well as in unisex fragrances with a balanced herbal base. The product is incorporated into aromatic sprays, body mists and aromatic waters for refreshment during the day, as well as into light formulas for daily use intended for delicate skin. In professional developments, it serves as a component of aromatic concentrates, oils and bases, complementing woody, floral and herbal accords and supporting the creation of long-lasting compositions. It is also used for scenting cosmetic products such as creams, lotions and body toners, as well as in hair sprays that leave a discreet scent trail. In the home environment, the hydrolate is present in diffusers, aroma mists and sprays for textiles and pillows, bringing a calm herbal tone to the interior. It is also suitable for solid essences, scented candles and personalized aromatic blends, which makes it a versatile ingredient in creating modern interpretations of herbal fragrances.
