Description
We offer a natural hydrolate from the root part of geranium for drinks, obtained from the plant Geranium macrorrhizum. The liquid bears the name Geranium Root natural hydrolate for drinks. Systematics assigns the plant to the Geraniaceae family. Cultivation takes place on Bulgarian soil in a natural way, and this is evident in the composition of the liquid, which contains no foreign or added impurities. The aromatic profile brings together a herbal, warm and slightly sweet side. Elemenone, globulol and guaiene predominate in the volatile fraction of the underground mass, which explains the warm herbal character of the distillate and its light sweet finish. The roots give the liquid a color between pale yellow and greenish. In strength, the scent remains soft. The hydrolate is a clear liquid with a uniform body. The underground mass of the plant has the appearance of a thick, fleshy rhizome that creeps shallowly along the surface of the soil, and it is precisely from there that the raw material is taken. Steam distillation shapes a pure aromatic profile and gives the product a clear herbal direction with a warm tint. The composition comprises water and volatile substances, more precisely those that come from the root mass, while preservatives and colorants are not included in it. The root origin is behind the color range, while the natural growing regime determines the purity of the composition and of the aromatic picture. The species forms several chemotypes, with citronellol and geraniol leading in some of them and sesquiterpene ketones in others, and therefore the aroma varies. The soft strength goes together with the warm herbal direction of the entire scent. The finished geranium liquid remains clear, with a root origin and a soft herbal aroma.
Application
Geranium root hydrolate finds application as a natural aromatic component in a variety of drink recipes. It adds a soft herbal taste with a slightly earthy tint to refreshing lemonades, iced teas and flavored waters, where its discreet character complements citrus and fruity accents. In carbonated tonics and alcohol-free cocktails, it is used to achieve fine floral notes, sought after in bar mixology and in boutique establishments. The ingredient is also suitable for smoothies, syrups and herbal concentrates, as well as for enriching plant-based milks and freshly prepared juices. In the segment of functional and invigorating formulas, the hydrolate is combined with botanical extracts to create a complete flavor profile without artificial flavorings. It also finds application in flavored ice cubes, iced tea bases and refreshing blends for the summer menus of restaurants and hotels. Its discreet aroma also makes it a suitable choice for waters offered in offices, spas and wellness centers, where a light and pure herbal accent is valued.
