Description
Our natural geranium root hydrolate for aromatherapy is extracted from the plant with the botanical name Geranium macrorrhizum. In international practice, the liquid is referred to as Geranium Root natural hydrolate for aromatherapy. The species belongs to the botanical family Geraniaceae. The underground organ of the plant is a thick, fleshy rhizome that creeps along the soil surface, and it is from there that the raw material for the distillate is taken. Production involves steam distillation, and for this reason the aroma remains clean, distinctly herbal and free of side tones. The root mass gives the liquid a light yellow to greenish tone. The plantations are cultivated naturally on Bulgarian soil, so the aqueous phase of the distillate carries only substances from the root raw material itself. The aromatic strength of the product remains mild. The scent combines a herbal and a warm side, to which a light sweetness is added. The product is a clear liquid that retains a uniform appearance. The aqueous phase and the volatile substances from the underground part make up the entire composition, and it contains no preservatives or colorants. Elemenone, globulol and guaiene dominate the volatile fraction from the underground part, which accounts for the herbal and slightly sweet direction of the scent of the finished liquid. The species forms different chemotypes, some with citronellol and geraniol, others with sesquiterpene ketones, since its hereditary lines differ from one another. Natural cultivation determines the composition, while the method of extraction shapes the purity of the scent. The root basis of the raw material explains both the color and the direction of the aroma. The finished geranium distillate remains clear, with a mild and warm herbal character and a light sweetness.
Application
Geranium root hydrolate has a wide range of applications in aromatherapy practice, where its mild herbal profile is valued in preparing relaxing sessions and evening rituals for unwinding. It is used in diffusers for work and personal spaces, in solutions for steam inhalations and in products that support calm breathing and relaxation in moments of tension. It is included in the composition of aromatic waters and mists for the face and body, refreshing toners, as well as natural perfume compositions with a herbal accent. Practitioners in massage salons and spa treatments add it to products intended to create a harmonious environment, and in yoga studios and meditation rooms it is applied to support concentration and inner balance. It is also suitable for aromatic baths, blends for sleep and rest, candles with a herbal scent, as well as solutions for neutralizing unpleasant odors naturally.
